Zhiwei is a dedicated and passionate guild-certified Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement teacher. With a PhD in cognitive neuroscience from New York University, Zhiwei's academic pursuit was driven by a profound interest in understanding the neural mechanisms of curiosity, which is a significant missing piece in our modern day education system. Yet, recognizing the significant role embodiment plays in the understanding of curiosity that is lacking in the current academic paradigms, Zhiwei embarked on a mission to bridge the gap between cognitive science and somatic education.
After completing the PhD and gaining experience in the tech industry, Zhiwei made the decision to follow her passion for somatic education through the Feldenkrais Method. This transformative approach not only helped Zhiwei overcome chronic back pain, but also revealed how the body plays a crucial role in decision-making and self-exploration. For Zhiwei, the Feldenkrais method has become a fundamental methodology for learning anything, from rock climbing to singing, playing musical instruments, or even optimizing comfort when using computers.
As the Chinese saying goes, "giving a person a fish is not as valuable as teaching them how to fish." Zhiwei is dedicated to sharing the Feldenkrais Method with curious students who are eager to unlock their physical health and reach their full potential by learning how to learn through the body and movements.
